UK strengthens Horizon Europe links

Zoomed in image of a world globe

UK engagement in Horizon Europe is gaining momentum, according to UK participation in Horizon Europe: Update on association one year on, a new report from the Russell Group—a network of 24 leading UK research-intensive universities. Since association was confirmed in 2024, UK-based researchers have joined over 300 Horizon projects, with more than half involving Russell Group institutions. Collaborations are strongest with partners in Germany, France, Spain and the Netherlands, spanning Horizon’s Global Challenges, Excellent Science and Innovative Europe pillars. The report also highlights renewed UK success in securing European Research Council (ERC) and Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) funding, supporting both inbound and outbound mobility. The findings offer reassurance to international researchers considering UK–EU collaboration or cross-border moves.
