Post-doc Position in Experimental Osteoarthritis Research

Department of Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery (Director Orthopedics: Prof. Dr. med. Babak Moradi)

The Research Group in the Department of Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery at the University Medical Center, Christian-Albrechts-Universität in Kiel, Germany offers a Postdoc position for students with an PhD degree and expertise in cell/molecular biology. Candidates with knowledge in biomedical research with an interest and focus in animal experimentation and inflammatory pathways are preferred. The project is related to the ExCarBon Project (DFG Forschergruppe) and is focused on the assessment of inflammatory pathways in osteoarthritis (https://www.excarbon.com). The group offers a wide range of laboratory techniques and the project involves analysis of human samples and animal studies.

We offer:

  • The salary will be paid in accordance with remuneration group.
  • The funding E13 TV-L (Public Sector Collective Agreement) is available for three years.
  • Full-time employment with 38.5 hours per week. Part-time employment may be compatible within the framework of certain working time models.

Your tasks:

  • To analyse the inflammatory pathways in an animal mouse model of osteoarthritis (DMMmodel)
  • To analyse the translation of these pathways in human disease
  • To assess the potential of inhibition of inflammatory pathways as a treatment strategy in osteoarthritis
  • Cell and molecular biology analysis, Flow cytometry, Cytokine analysis, histology
  • Animal work (animal surgery and sample harvesting and analysis)
  • Biobanking

Skills/Qualifications

Your qualifications:

PhD Degree in cellular / molecular biology (or similar subject) with a scientific background and experimental experience in the following research areas:

  • Animal experimentation (animal experimentation diploma)
  • Cell culture, molecular and cell biology (qPCR, Western-Blot, ELISA, Multiplex analysis)
  • Flow cytometry analysis, histology
  • Biomaterials, stem cells, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine
  • Independent and self-motivated person, scientific creativity and originality, strong team spirit and collaborative capacity, strong writing skills.
  • Fluency in English
