We are looking for a highly motivated post-doctoral scientist to join the laboratory of Genetic Skin Diseases led by Prof. Alain Hovnanian at Imagine Institute for genetic diseases / INSERM UMR1163 in Paris, France. The successful candidate will be responsible for a project aiming to test in vivo the efficacy of novel therapies for Netherton syndrome using genetic mouse models. The position involves the following direct tasks:

  • Plan and execute protocols for in vivo testing of therapeutic molecules in a mouse model of Netherton syndrome
  • Supervise and/or perform tissue/molecular analyses of biological samples (histology, immunofluorescence staining, microscopy, RT-qPCR, etc.)
  • Manage the order, storage and annotation of biological samples
  • Manage a mouse colony
  • Analyze data, write and present progress reports/scientific publications
  • Participate in meetings
  • Perform bibliography search and stay up-to-date with the scientific advances in the field
  • Propose problem-solving strategies, in case required by the project

Desired skills

Previous work in genetics, skin diseases, or inflammation will be highly appreciated, but is not necessary.

Required skills/qualifications

  • Accreditation for animal experimentation (Level 1)
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Good communication skills in oral and written English

Qualifications

Candidates should have a PhD degree with a strong background in cell biology, molecular biology or transgenic mouse models.

  • Duration of the contract: 12 months, with possibility of renewal
  • Gross monthly salary: according to published INSERM compensation scheme (depending on experience)
  • Opportunity to work with a full time assistant engineer dedicated to the project
  • Opportunity to work in an international environment, at the interface between basic and clinical research
  • Opportunities to learn lab-specific techniques (e.g. keratinocyte culture in 2D and 3D, skin model systems, processing of skin samples, etc.)

  • Opportunities to become involved in other ongoing projects with excellent publication perspectives
  • Opportunities to attend courses/specific training
